Malang City UMK Increases by 0,80 Percent, Effective January 1, 2022

Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Government (Pemkot) through the Manpower, Investment and Integrated One-Stop Service Agency (Disnaker PMPTSP) conducted socialization regarding the determination of the Malang City Minimum Wage (UMK) for 2022 at the Malang City Integrated Office, Tuesday (7/12/2021).

The socialization is based on the decision set by the Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, regarding the 2022 Malang Regency/City Minimum Wage (UMK) which has increased by 0,80 percent. The 2022 Malang City UMK is IDR 2.994.143,98 or an increase of IDR 23.641,00 from the 2021 Malang City UMK of IDR 2.970.502,00.

Regional Secretary of Malang City who is also the Acting Head of the Malang City PMPTSP Manpower Office Erik Setyo Santoso, ST., MT said that the policy has been stipulated in the Decree of the Governor of East Java Number 188/803/KPTS/013/2021 concerning the Minimum Wages for Regencies/Cities in East Java in 2022 on November 30, 2021. The Decree of the Governor of East Java will take effect starting January 1, 2022.

"In addition to socialization, this activity aims to convey information regarding the amount of the 2022 Malang UMK and so that every business actor or company can follow and apply the minimum wage in accordance with the provisions of applicable laws and regulations," explained Erik Setyo Santoso.

According to him, wages are one of the sensitive aspects in employment relations both from the side of the workers, the employers and also from the union. Wages are also income from the side of workers to fulfill the needs of their families and other needs. From the side of employers, wages are seen as costs, such as production costs that need to be considered with profits, operational costs, and so on.

Furthermore, Erik said that UMK is the minimum value in fulfilling life including for the fulfillment of clothing, food, shelter, social security aspects, work accident insurance, old age security, and health insurance. This is expected to be optimally fulfilled by entrepreneurs in Malang City.

"The government certainly strives to improve the welfare of its citizens, including the welfare of workers. Hopefully, through this event, there will be an understanding that the government's goal is to improve the welfare of citizens, both workers and entrepreneurs in continuing their investment wheels. The government tries not to ignore humanitarian values ​​for the common good," he concluded.

Also becoming a resource person in this socialization, Ruly Budi Krisbandono, SH from the East Java Provincial Manpower and Transmigration Office and the participants who attended were business actors, representatives from labor unions and others. (eka/ram)
