Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City DPRD through the six existing factions conveyed their views on the Draft Regional Regulation (Ranperda) concerning the Tugu Tirta Drinking Water Company regarding the amendment to the Malang City Regional Regulation (Perda) Number 11 of 2019, Monday (13/12/2021). The factions are the PDI Perjuangan Faction, the PKB Faction, the PKS Faction, the Gerindra Faction, the Golkar-Nasdem-PSI Faction, and the Peace Faction (Democrats, PAN, Perindo).
Several factions approved the draft regulation to become a regulation in 2022 with various suggestions and inputs. In the regulation, the function or task of the Regional-Owned Enterprise (BUMD) owned by the Malang City Government (Pemkot) was added, namely managing fecal wastewater.
Regarding the regulation, Malang Mayor Drs. H. Sutiaji said that this BUMD is different from other BUMDs because there must be a balance with the social mission. This means not emphasizing high profits. "The role of Perumda Air Minum Tugu Tirta is more towards improving services and fulfilling the basic needs of the community, namely the fulfillment of clean water," he said.
In this context, the bespectacled man said, the Malang City Government plans to collaborate with a third party to utilize groundwater. Later, said Sutiaji, if this is implemented significantly, it will not burden the community as consumers. "If there is a tariff increase, it will be gradual. At the beginning, it will probably be applied to institutions," he explained.
"From this effort, then it must be on a small scale, will reduce the dependence of Malang City for water needs to Batu City and Malang Regency as has been the case so far. In the future we will maximize groundwater sources in Malang City which have very large potential, so that dependence will continue to decrease," explained Sutiaji.
With the addition of the role and duties of Perumda Air Minum Tugu Tirta, it will continue to guarantee the quality of groundwater in Malang City. Meanwhile, related to the pipe leak, the flow of water to residents was blocked and there was water pollution. According to the number one person in the Malang City Government, it will be used as a material for correction and evaluation in the future.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman I of the Malang City DPRD Abdurrahman after leading the plenary meeting said that his party would position it properly, namely supervision and control over executive performance. "We will supervise the implementation of the regulation later and if there is anything that is not appropriate, then we will reprimand it," he said.
A similar statement was conveyed by Deputy Chairman II of the Malang City DPRD Asmualik. He added that later Perumda Air Minum Tugu Tirta would develop bottled drinking water. So that it will significantly increase the original regional income (PAD) for the Malang City Government. "This BUMD should not use the APBD, but instead should increase it," he concluded. (say/ram)
