Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – For the first time, the Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda) of Malang City gave appreciation and awards to taxpayers who are compliant and pay their taxes on time. Titled the taxpayer gathering held at the Kartini Building, Malang City, as many as 50 taxpayers received special appreciation and awards, Thursday (23/12/2021).

The Mayor of Malang, Drs H Sutiaji conveyed the importance of paying taxes, because its allocation or utilization is very large. He gave an example, such as to help with education costs for students and college students who are unable. But have very good achievements. In addition, it also helps underprivileged residents in meeting their living needs or enjoying health services.
This bespectacled man also advised that do not assume or have an assumption that paying this tax adds to the burden, and burdens the community. Mayor Sutiaji invited, if paying taxes is a necessity and not because of coercion.
"Not only the central government whose income and development funding sources come from taxes, but also the City of Malang. Therefore, let's pay our taxes according to the amount and pay them on time," he invited.
Furthermore, the number one person in the Malang City Government explained that for business managers, such as hotels and restaurants, the taxes paid are basically taxes from residents or consumers who are entrusted. Therefore, the deposit must be submitted according to the amount. "If a region wants to progress and develop, one of the determining factors is the tax sector," said Sutiaji.
This was confirmed by the Head of Bapenda Malang City Dr. Handi Priyanto, AP., M.Si. According to him, appreciation and awards for taxpayers are one of the ways that are considered effective to continue to increase tax revenue, compliance and motivate other taxpayers. From this year's tax target of Rp462 billion, according to him, 92 percent or Rp425 billion has been realized.
Until the end of the year which is only a few days away, Handi is optimistic that he can meet 100 percent of the target and even exceed it. He did not deny that the Covid-19 pandemic also affected tax revenues. "Like the occupancy rate of hotels and entertainment venues that have barely operated and their income has dropped drastically. So the taxes collected have also decreased," he explained.
From this condition, Bapenda continues to try to explore other sources or potential taxes, such as land and building tax. So that the amount of this year's tax target is optimistic to be realized. "In the final seconds of this year, 140 people at Bapenda worked hard, from morning to night, and even I myself went down to the field to collect taxes. With these various efforts, we are optimistic that we can meet this year's target," said Handi.
For taxpayers who do not comply, he explained, Bapenda will give three warnings. If ignored, it will be forwarded to Satpol PP as the enforcer of regional regulations and forwarded to the Malang City District Attorney's Office if they are still not compliant. "In 2022, in the initial stage we will install 500 online tax monitoring and payment systems or e-tax in hotels and restaurants. This effort is to further optimize tax revenues, especially hotels and restaurants that have great potential," concluded Handi. (say/ram)
