The statement was conveyed by the Head of the East Java Bank Indonesia Representative Office, Budi Hanoto, at a virtual year-end reflection event on Tuesday (28/12/2021). Carrying the theme 'Optimistic East Java Rises,' Controlling inflation for sustainable economic recovery, Budi is optimistic that what is predicted has a strong level of accuracy.

In addition, referring to the four factors or 4K this year is running well and proven the economy in East Java continues to grow significantly. The 4K are, namely price affordability, smooth distribution, effective communication, and supply availability.

"On the other hand, the inter-district and city, inter-provincial trade mission program that has been developed so far is running well. So that what is needed by the region is met optimally," he added.

Meanwhile, East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa, was also optimistic about what Budi Hanoto explained and advised to continue to instill that sense of optimism. "If we always have a sense of optimism, then what we think will become a reality. Because basically, what will happen in our lives starts from what we think," he said.

On the other hand, the Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji, who attended the event, admitted that he was optimistic that the economy in East Java and especially Malang City would continue to grow.

"In the event earlier, it was conveyed that there are several obstacles to how our inflation is monitored. Monitoring it does not have to reduce the inflation rate, but when our genie ratio inflation is still well maintained. When deflation does not mean that people's purchasing power is reduced, and that is the need for control," he said.

In this context, the bespectacled man explained, what Malang City did was to continue to monitor the prices of people's needs or nine basic necessities (sembako). "We already have a website related to the market prices of a number of these needs, so that from this effort there will be price stability and prevent shortages of these needs," he explained.

On the other hand, Malang City has a Regional-Owned Enterprise (BUMD), such as Perumda Tugu Aneka Usaha (Tunas) and Perumda Tugu Artha which in 2022 will play an active role in realizing price stability which will ultimately help control inflation. Trade missions with other regencies and cities have been going well and will continue to be strengthened.

"From this condition, at least in 2022 the economy in Malang City will be at between 4 to, and even 6 percent," he concluded. (say/ram)
