Omicron Alert, Mayor Sutiaji: Don't Worry

Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – To date, Covid-19 cases triggered by the Omicron variant have been detected in East Java, which is suspected to have originated from Bali. Regarding this, so far no similar cases have been detected in Malang City. However, residents are advised to remain vigilant, not to worry, and to continue to implement strict health protocols.

This was emphasized by the Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji after the launch of the Public Service Mall at the Alun-Alun Malang Mall, Monday (3/1/2022). The bespectacled man added that his party had held a coordination meeting with the heads of regional apparatuses, sub-district heads, and village heads regarding Omicron.

"We have prepared a centralized isolation place (isoter) if later there is an Omicron case detected in Malang City. There are three places for isoter preparation, namely in the Rusunawa owned by the Malang City Government, the Learning Activity Center (SKB) on Jalan L. A Sucipto, and the Malang City Hospital," added Mayor Sutiaji.

According to the number one person in the Malang City Government, for mitigation, until now from the results of swab and antigen tests for residents who are positive for Covid-19, no indications have been detected that are triggered by Omicron. However, for the umpteenth time, Sutiaji advised residents to remain vigilant and not to worry too much.

A similar statement was made by the Head of the Malang City Health Office, Dr. Husnul Muarif. According to him, the most important thing right now is the implementation of the 6M health protocol, namely wearing masks, washing hands with soap, maintaining distance, avoiding crowds, reducing mobility, and increasing body resistance/immunity.

"Other mitigation, such as testing, tracing, and treatment (3M) and vaccination. This means that residents who have not been vaccinated or have only received one vaccine injection should get the second dose of vaccination," he appealed. (say/ram)
