Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – Malang Mayor Drs. H. Sutiaji appreciated the regional apparatus who had worked hard during 2021. This was packaged in the 2021 Performance Reflection and 2022 Outlook at the Islamic Center Building, Wednesday (5/1/2022).

Mayor Sutiaji said that 2021 was a challenging year where the Covid-19 pandemic reached its culmination and forced the adaptation of various development agendas. Retrospective of the 2021 journey is the right medium to start the new year. Hopefully, the achievements that have been achieved can be further strengthened.
"I hope that there will be open ventilation to encourage our work and performance even though we are still in the atmosphere of grief due to Covid-19," said Sutiaji at the event themed 'One and Strengthen Commitment, Build Optimism 2022.'
Thanks to the hard work and collaboration of all parties, we have succeeded in suppressing the transmission of cases until the policy was lowered to the Implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) Level 1 which has an impact on the wheels of the economy turning even further.
"The Malang City Government has achieved various achievements in 2021. The Malang City Government realizes that there is still homework and challenges to be faced in the future. In the midst of these challenges, we hope for public support so that optimism is built," he said.
Malang City has achieved Universal Health Coverage (UHC) since April 2021. Universal Health Coverage (UHC) has also been achieved, where 95,24% of the community is protected by health insurance. The stunting trend has decreased, then the Malang City Government also provides scholarships for 130 high school and college students and orphans affected by Covid. Innovations are also presented such as the Digital Reading Corner, various literacy innovations, policies to increase PAUD teacher incentives, one RW one hafiz stimulus and others.
"Early 2021 projections show that the economy is starting to experience an increase of 3.80% after the contraction due to the pandemic in 2020. The creative economy sector continues to grow and is strengthened until Malang City is again designated as one of the creative cities by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy in 2021," added Sutiaji.
Integrated infrastructure continues to be built, such as the Malang Creative Center, Tlogomas Bridge, Kayutangan Heritage, Merjosari Flower Garden, and others. Efforts to reduce poverty rates also continue to be strengthened. So that the poverty rate in Malang City is the second lowest in East Java Province. One of the efforts is that the Malang City Government is developing the Job Fair Active application to reduce unemployment. Various collaborations as an effort to protect and fulfill the needs of the elderly also continue to be improved.
"Amidst the challenges faced, Malang City won the Child-Friendly City Category in the 2021 Nindya Category. This is the first time Malang City has won the 2021 Parahita Ekapraya award," he continued.
Malang City Government also achieved SAKIP A predicate in 2020. Meanwhile, the Bureaucratic Reform Index continues to increase in the good category. Strengthening the innovative bureaucratic ecosystem continues to be built. This is in line with information technology whose utilization also continues to be optimized.
"Various conveniences are presented for public satisfaction in public services, such as digitalization through applications as a system simplification to be more effective and efficient. Most recently, we have inaugurated the Merdeka Public Service Mall (MPP) which can be utilized by the public," explained Sutiaji.
In 2022, there are several strategic issues that will be strengthened. First, budget adjustments as a result of the pandemic on development financing. Second, reducing the gap between achievements and final targets by strengthening smart work, as well as national economic recovery.
"In addition, it is necessary to respond wisely to the temperature ahead of the political year. Meanwhile, demands for digitalization and policy communication are also strategic issues to be strengthened. We also need to be aware of all the impacts of the spread of Omicron, including in the pandemic recovery situation. The key to post-pandemic revival is actually three, namely adaptation, collaboration and creativity," he explained again.
