Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – Malang Mayor Drs. H. Sutiaji remembered the figure of KH Abdurahman Wahid or Gus Dur as one of the monumental figures. He conveyed this when giving a speech at the Hybrid Haul activity commemorating the 12th anniversary of Gus Dur's death at the State Islamic University (UIN) Maulana Malik Ibrahim, Tuesday (4/1/2022).
According to Sutiaji, this event was held to commemorate the late Gus Dur who became the 4th President of the Republic of Indonesia and was an extraordinary leader with intelligent ideas and thoughts. "A monumental figure like KH Abdurahman Wahid, I have an extraordinary personal experience. We all miss Gus Dur's peace, miss his extraordinary qualities. Gus Dur was physically unable to see, but everything could be embraced. People could accept what his ideas were," explained Sutiaji.
Through this event, hopefully we can emulate Gus Dur who is known as the father of social justice. Because of his consistent ideas and defenses regarding the importance of respecting differences as a religious nation.
"I appreciate the organizers who continue to push the intellectual treasure to study not only literacy skills, but also educational skills and implementation skills in everyday life," he concluded. (eka/ram)
