Breadfruit, (malangkota.go.id) – Students of SMK Kartika IV showcase their work through a fashion show in front of visitors to Cyber Mall, Malang City, Thursday (13/1/2022). The students managed to attract the interest of mall visitors.

Head of the Fashion Design Department of SMK Kartika IV Novia Ira Maulana, M.Pd said that the activity at Cyber Mall was the first offline activity during the Covid-19 pandemic. This activity presents various works by students from class XII majoring in Fashion Design.
"Students create designs, patterns, and sewing independently," said Novia.
Novia added, this final exam is a foundation for students to play a wider role in the fashion world. The hope is that students will not only become tailors, but can create bigger works as fashion designers who are equipped with entrepreneurship.
Cyber Mall visitor Evi Kristanti said, she did not expect that the fashion show at Cyber Mall was a performance of SMK students' work. Because the work displayed was very good and professional.
"It's amazing that vocational school students can create such works. This is the hope that Malang City can produce great talents in the fashion field," explained Evi.
The same thing was also conveyed by Cyber Mall visitor Adi Nugroho. He admitted that he came to Cyber Mall to look for a laptop. After arriving at the location, he took the time to watch a fashion show that he found interesting.
"I haven't seen a fashion show for a long time because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Since I have today, I took the time to watch while looking at the work of the vocational school students," said Adi Nugroho.
Meanwhile, the Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji, appreciated every work of Malang City residents. Recently, the Malang City Government (Pemkot) through the Cooperatives, Industry and Trade Service (Disperindag) in collaboration with the Malang City Regional National Craft Council (Dekranasda) held a designer competition.
"Malang City Government always tries to guide and elevate the work of Malang City residents. Malang City is not only known as a city of education and culinary, but also as a creative city," said Sutiaji.
The creative economy of Malang City is extraordinary, so that the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) has designated Malang City as a Creative Regency/City (KaTa Kreatif) in 2021. This can be achieved because the residents of Malang City are very creative in all fields. (cah/ram)
