Kedungkandang, (malangkota.go.id) – Where there is a will there is a way. This proverb is suitable to be pinned on Bayu Catur who is currently developing a natural fish feed cultivation business from moina water fleas. If you think about it briefly, then people will think, why cultivate water fleas?

It turns out that moina water fleas are already familiar to ornamental fish lovers. Because one of the ornamental fish foods is moina water fleas. Water fleas are one of the favorite foods because their size fits the fish's mouth opening and of course have a fairly high protein value.
In addition to ornamental fish, zooplankton has long been used as one of the natural food sources for fish seeds. The protein content of water fleas can reach 66% and fat 6%, making it very suitable for fish seeds that are still in the growth stage.
Bayu Catur said, if relying on factory feed for ornamental fish, it is difficult to make a profit because the cost is spent on feed. For that, he as a fish farmer must be smart in overcoming and finding good solutions in raising ornamental fish at low cost.
"Not only can it save on feed. Feeding ornamental fish with moina water fleas can produce healthy fish," said Bayu on Jalan Bayam Dalam, RT 8 RW 2, Malang City.
In addition to healthier fish and beautiful colors, moina water fleas are also sought after by many buyers. This is further compounded by the very stable price of moina water fleas, unlike ornamental fish whose prices fluctuate.
"Currently, in addition to selling ornamental fish, I also sell a lot of moina water fleas. Especially during the rainy season like this, the demand for moina water fleas is increasing," said Bayu.
Bayu admitted, in addition to maximizing the cultivation of moina water fleas around his house. He also invited several friends to partner with his business. Because he felt the need for help to serve the increasing number of sales. In cultivating it, he said, special techniques are needed so that moina water fleas can produce and be successful, and are not contaminated with jet water fleas.
"If moina water fleas are contaminated with jet water fleas, the consequences can be very dangerous for ornamental fish, especially betta fish. For that, you need to be careful when cultivating them," he concluded. (cah/ram)
