Directorate General of Taxes Socializes Law on Harmonization of Tax Regulations in Malang

Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – The Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) through the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) held a roadshow for the Socialization of Law Number 7 of 2021 concerning the Harmonization of Tax Regulations in Malang City, Friday (21/1/2022). The activity held in various cities in Indonesia is expected to be a means of delivering material in more detail.

This law regulates a number of new tax regulations as one of the government's ways to reform the tax system. The enactment of this law is based on the intention to increase sustainable economic growth in order to realize a just, prosperous, and prosperous society based on Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia.

Deputy Minister of Finance Prof. Suahasil Nazara, SE., M.Sc., Ph.D stated that taxes are not only a source of state and regional income. But more than that, taxes can maintain the business world. The government has provided various tax incentives for business actors since the Covid-19 pandemic. The various incentives provided range from Income Tax (PPh) 21, PPh Article 22 import, and PPh Article 25. These incentives are also included in the national economic recovery (PEN) program.

"Taxes are not only a tool for collecting state revenues, but also a tool to maintain your business. I am sure that your company has taken advantage of the various tax incentives provided since 2020," said Suahasil when delivering his presentation at the event for the East Java III and Nusa Tenggara regions.

This is an incentive for the government to help micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Last year, VAT tax for housing was started, which was then given incentives. Then the PPnBM motor tax was reduced, including retail outlet rentals. According to him, tax regulations must be fair.

"People who have income above the non-taxable income (PTKP) are required to pay taxes," he continued.

Met after the event, the Assistant for General Administration of the Malang City Government Sri Winarni, SH said that there are several changes in this law. The point is for economic recovery by easing taxpayers, both in terms of the amount and the method of payment.

"We as good citizens, as taxpayers must welcome this policy. As is known, taxes are one of the sources of state revenue used to finance development and government administration. So let's support it," he concluded.

Also present at the event were members of Commission XI of the Indonesian House of Representatives for the East Java Electoral District Andreas Eddy Susetyo, Director General of Taxes Suryo Utomo, SE., Ak., MBT, Malang Regent Drs. HM Sanusi, and prominent taxpayers in the East Java III and Nusa Tenggara regions. (ari/ram)
