Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – As the Kayutangan area or new tourist destination on Jalan Basuki Rahmat becomes more crowded, especially at night, it also has an impact on the number of vehicle parking spaces. From this condition, the Malang City Transportation Agency (Dishub) is doing various ways to organize parking so as not to disrupt traffic flow or the comfort of residents.

This was conveyed by the Head of the Malang City Transportation Agency, Heru Mulyono, S.IP., MT on Monday (24/1/2022) when met at the Malang City Hall. If the places provided by the Transportation Agency are inadequate, he said, vehicle parking will be placed in the yard of the City Recreation Park (Tarekot) and on Jalan Gajah Mada.
However, Heru did not deny that so far residents together with Karang Taruna Kayutangan have also opened parking lots in the village. As long as the parking lot does not interfere with the comfort of local residents or traffic, it is still allowed. "However, we will continue to supervise, so that everything runs smoothly," he added.
Likewise regarding parking rates, the bespectacled man said, if the rate for two-wheeled vehicles is Rp2.000,00 and four-wheeled vehicles is Rp3.000,00 for those parking on the side of the road around Kayutangan. "However, if there is a parking rate above that, it should be reported to the officer. However, for parking inside the village, we do not have the authority. Because it is based on the agreement of the residents in determining the rate," explained Heru.
He emphasized that the levies that go to the Transportation Agency are for parking on the side of the road, and those in the village are managed by local residents, usually together with youth organizations or community elements in the village. "In essence, we have managed vehicle parking as well as possible so that there is no traffic congestion," he explained.
When the flow of vehicles began to be congested, Heru explained, his party conducted traffic engineering by placing officers from the Transportation Agency, Satpol PP, and the police. "What we need to emphasize is that there is no one-way implementation, but only traffic engineering. However, once it is smooth, we will return it to normal, so it is only temporary or adjusted to conditions in the field," he said.
Furthermore, Heru said that his party could not stem the flow of residents who wanted to enjoy the atmosphere of Kayutangan. So sometimes visitors who should have walked on the sidewalk, ended up walking on the shoulder of the road. This is what caused the traffic jam, which forced the Transportation Agency to carry out traffic engineering. (say/ram)
