Discussing Draft Regional Regulation on Archives, Mayor Sutiaji: There Will Be Investors from Japan

Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) together with the Malang City Government (Pemkot) discussed the Draft Regional Regulation (Ranperda) on the Implementation of Archives at a plenary meeting at the Malang City DPRD building, Wednesday (26/01/2022). Related to this archive, there is an investor from Japan who is interested in building a Malang City archive depot.

In this plenary session, Deputy Chairman of the Special Committee (Pansus) Mohammad Arif Budiarso, ST read out five proposals for the draft regional regulation. First, for the executive, in this case the Mayor of Malang Drs. H. Sutiaji to immediately make this draft regional regulation into a regional regulation (perda). Second, to form an archive forum. Third, to increase human resources in related institutions. Fourth, to immediately operate the archive depot and delegate tasks. Fifth, the function of archiving to authorized officials is also a proposal of the special committee for archives.

"So that in the future, the arrangement of archives in Malang City will be the best or an example, like what is in Semarang," he added.

Meanwhile, Malang Mayor Sutiaji said that good and proper archive management will support the performance of state civil servants (ASN). Several performance assessments so far, he said, related to this archive are still a special concern and there must be immediate system improvements.

Regarding this archive, the number one person in the Malang City Government said that there are prospective investors from Japan who are interested in building an archive depot. According to him, the conducive Malang City and the absence of flood disasters are one of the tariffs for Japan.

When asked for budget details, exact plans and locations, Sutiaji admitted that there would still be further discussions. "We hope that the plan can be realized so that archival management in Malang City will be one of the best," he said.

Deputy Chairman of the Special Committee for Archives of the Malang City DPRD, Mohammad Arif Budiarso, when confirmed regarding this matter gave positive appreciation. "Although we do not know the plan yet, if it is realized then it will be very good and we certainly support it," he explained. (say/ram)
