Restricting Omicron Movement in Malang City, Officers Hold Joint Operation

Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – As in several other areas, in Malang City, residents infected with Covid-19, especially the new variant, Omicron, are indicated to continue to increase. So that the Malang City Covid-19 Task Force is carrying out various repressive efforts to continue to suppress and control the spread of the virus.

Officers from the Malang City Health Service conducted random swab tests at several locations that were the targets of the joint operation.

In this regard, joint personnel with the Malang City Covid-19 Task Force held a joint operation to discipline the implementation of health protocols, Tuesday (25/1/2022) evening. Malang City Regional Secretary Erik Setyo Santoso, ST., MT while leading the roll call before the operation, advised that this operation be carried out humanely.

"Give an appeal, distribute masks and make the public aware of the discipline of health protocols. So that the Covid-19 cases, especially with the presence of this new Omicron variant, can continue to be suppressed and its transmission controlled. Because if the cases that occur are high, it will have a negative impact on other sectors, such as the community's economy," he added.

According to Regional Secretary Erik, the active role of officers or the Covid-19 Task Force also determines the suppression and control of Covid-19 cases. "We from the Malang City Government have made various efforts, such as intensifying vaccinations and preparing centralized isolation places to anticipate various possibilities. Joint operations like this are an important part of all these efforts," he said.

The operation to enforce health protocols, he said, was divided into two groups and targeted several crowded areas. Such as on Jalan Basuki Rahmat or the Kayutangan area, Jalan Borobudur, Jalan Soekarno Hatta, Jalan Mayjen Sungkono, and Jalan Sudanco Supriadi. During the operation, officers still found several residents who ignored health protocols such as not wearing masks and gathering.

Head of the Operations Team, Kompol Supiyan, said that his party not only distributed masks but also imposed sanctions directly on the spot. For example, push-ups and being required to take a swab test on the spot, as well as imposing minor criminal sanctions on business actors who violate health protocols and operating hours.

"From the random swab tests conducted on 14 residents in several locations, no residents were found to be positive. However, in the future, similar operations will be intensified again. For now, it is more of an appeal, later more intensive action will be taken," he added.

For information, until now, 19 residents have tested positive for Covid-15.808, 14.535 have recovered, 140 are under monitoring, and 1.133 have died. Residents who have been exposed are all undergoing self-isolation at home.

"However, to anticipate the massive spread of the Omicron virus, integrated isolation places such as regional hospitals owned by the Malang City Government and field hospitals are still being prepared," continued Erik.

Case tracking and vaccination implementation are being intensified to suppress Covid-19 cases, especially those triggered by the Omicron virus. On the other hand, every citizen, even though they have been vaccinated, should continue to strictly implement health protocols. (say/ram)
