This statement was conveyed by Mayor Sutiaji at the 2022 Public Service Innovation Competition (KIPP) Implementation Workshop at the Harris Hotel, Wednesday (26/1/2022).

"Innovation cannot be separated from interaction, both internally for introspection, and external relations between institutions and the community to hear needs," explained Sutiaji.

According to Sutiaji, various innovations that have been carried out by regional apparatuses must be balanced with an increase in terms of the number and benefits of innovation. "Last year I noted that only 62 innovations entered the competition. We must not lose to other regions that can penetrate hundreds of innovations per year. However, the benefits can also be felt by the community," said Sutiaji.

A series of innovations from Malang City have been recorded as achieving achievements on the national stage, including the Malang Waste Bank 'Black Gold Behind Piles of Waste' from the Malang City Environmental Service (DLH) with the National Top 25 2015, the Braille Corner Service (LAPO BRA) from the Public Library and Regional Archives Service with the National Top 99 2017 to the Braille E-Ticket and Extraordinary Access for Visual Disabilities (BREXIT) from the Janti Health Center with the National Top 45 2019.

In addition, achievements were again made through the innovation of the Smart Trader Market School (Sepasar Pedas) which entered the National Top 45 2020, and Si Ikan Tila from Bakalan Krajan Village which entered the National Top 45 2021.

Meanwhile, Head of the Organizational Section of the Malang City Regional Secretariat, Boedi Utomo, SE, M.Si said that the 2022 Malang City KIPP Workshop was held as an opening event for the innovation competition which will be held at the city level, from February to April 2022.

"Later, we will bring selected innovations to the provincial and central levels, which will start around March to September," said Boedi.

The 2022 Malang City KIPP will hold nine categories, namely poverty alleviation, education, health, food security, economic growth and employment opportunities, community empowerment, gender-responsive public services, environmental protection and preservation, and governance. (ndu/ram)
