Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Government (Pemkot) through the Youth, Sports and Tourism Service (Disporapar) has decided to temporarily stop music performances in the Kayutangan corridor as a follow-up to the evaluation results regarding the increase in Covid-19 cases in Malang City.
Head of the Malang City Disporapar Dr. Ida Ayu Wahyuni, SH., M.Si revealed that the policy will be implemented immediately to reduce the risk of crowds that have the potential to spread Covid-19. "On the direction of the Mayor of Malang, we have temporarily stopped starting today, Monday (31/1/2022) because Covid-19 is indeed increasing," explained Ida.
Covid-19 cases have indeed continued to increase in the past week. Case data under monitoring as of January 30, 2022, reached 274 cases, a significant increase compared to mid-January when there were only four cases left.
Before deciding to temporarily stop, Ida said, Disporapar Malang City, had taken steps to adjust by reducing the points from four locations to one location. In addition, the duration of the performance has also been reduced and the PeduliLindungi application has been introduced to visitors.
"However, observing the situation on the ground, it is deemed necessary to take further anticipation. I assure you that this temporary suspension period will be optimized together with other regional apparatuses to perfect the technical implementation of activities and anticipation of the pandemic," he continued.
As is known, weekend music in Kayutangan was initiated in early January 2022 as a form of accommodating the creativity of creative arts and performance industry players in Malang City. This activation attracted significant enthusiasm from the people of Malang City, so that every Saturday-Sunday the Kayutangan Heritage area becomes even more lively. (ndu/ram)
