Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – In order to suppress the continued spread of Covid-19, especially with the presence of the Omicron variant, various efforts have been made by the City of Malang. Such as limiting community activities at night by closing Jalan Trunojoyo or around Malang Kota Baru Station and Malang City Hall.

In addition, Jalan Soekarno-Hatta, which is also the center of community activities and triggers crowds, has been closed since Wednesday (26/1/2022). This closure was carried out from 19.00 – 23.00 WIB. During the road closure, in addition to local residents, ambulances, grocery cars, fuel cars (BBM) and online motorcycle taxis are not allowed to enter.
With socialization and humanistic dispelling from officers consisting of the TNI-Polri, the Malang City Transportation Agency (Dishub), and the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), road users also obeyed the rules.
This was conveyed by the Head of the Regulation, Guarding, Security and Patrol Unit (Kanit Turjawali) of the Malang City Police Traffic Unit, Iptu Muhammad Syaikhu, Monday (31/1/2022).
He added, starting today, road restrictions or closures will change. For Jalan Soekarno-Hatta it remains, but Jalan Trunojoyo starting Monday (31/1/2022) night will be opened or there will be no road closures.
"Monday night we will close Jalan Basuki Rahmat or Kayutangan area, which is the center of crowds or community activities. For Jalan Trunojoyo, it turns out that community activity is not too high. Only a few people in front of the lion statue," he added.
The closure or restriction of activities on Jalan Basuki Rahmat, said Syaikhu, is the same as that imposed on Jalan Trunojoyo. He hopes that the people of Malang City will be aware of what the officers are doing. "This is for the common good, and currently the number of Covid-19 cases in Malang City continues to increase, especially after the emergence of a new variant of the virus, Omicron," he said.
Furthermore, Syaikhu said, for Jalan Soekarno-Hatta, there will likely be changes. Because the results of monitoring since January 26, community activity is not too high and residents have obeyed or implemented health protocols well. When a joint operation and random swab tests were carried out a few days ago, the results were also not positive. He hopes that this will not change and the community will remain disciplined in implementing health protocols.
"Based on the community's proposal and the results of our monitoring in the field, after Jalan Soekarno-Hatta is opened or there are no restrictions, the plan is to divert to the Sudimoro area, where there are many cafes and places for young people to hang out. We are just waiting for orders from our superiors, and whenever the order comes down, we are ready to carry it out," said Syaikhu. (say/ram)
