It should be noted that Chinese New Year celebrations do not only refer to certain religions, but Chinese New Year is a tradition for people who have Chinese blood.
The administrator of the Eng An Kiong Temple Foundation in Malang City, Herman Subianto, revealed that Chinese New Year is not only celebrated by followers of the Tridharma, namely Taoism, Buddhism, and Confucianism.
"Starting from our ancestors, even though they are not Tridharma followers, other followers also celebrate. For example, Catholics and Christians who feel they are descendants or have Chinese ancestors," he said.
Eng An Kiong Temple, which is a place of worship for Tridharma, turns out to have high tolerance. Like in this Chinese New Year celebration, the people who come to the temple are not only Tridharma followers, there are some who are Christian, Catholic, and Muslim.
"The Tridharma community, which consists of Taoism, Chinese and Buddhist beliefs, continues to maintain the values of tolerance and tradition," he said.
Chinese New Year which falls on February 1, 2022 AD is the year 2573 Kongzili. Every new year, Chinese people believe in shio. Shio itself is twelve animals that represent a certain year, month, and hour in Chinese astrology.
For this year, it is the water tiger zodiac. Herman said that this water tiger has a spirit that can be emulated. "Like being stubborn, not wanting to give in, but his honesty is what is important. Even though he doesn't want to give in, he is honest. If it's true, it's true. We can emulate this," said Herman.
