Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Government (Pemkot) through the Environmental Service (DLH) decided to temporarily turn off the decorative lights along the Kayutangan corridor starting Sunday (6/2/2022). This was after evaluating the crowd situation that was monitored over the past few days.

Head of Malang City DLH Drs. Wahyu Setianto, MM revealed that this decision was in accordance with the direction of Malang Mayor Drs. H. Sutiaji and had been coordinated with Malang City Police and related ranks.
"Starting this Sunday afternoon at 18.00 WIB, we will temporarily turn off the decorative lights. Only the decorative lights, for public street lighting (PJU) remains on," said Wahyu.
Previously, the Malang City Police since January 31, 2022, has made efforts to limit mobility at certain hours on Jalan Basuki Rahmat and several other corridors. The aim is to suppress mass movement which is still high and is suspected of being one of the factors in the increase in Covid-19 cases.
The joint team of Malang City Government together with TNI/Polri also carried out an operation to enforce health protocols (prokes) and random swab tests including in Kayutangan. However, some people still seem to be less aware of the importance of avoiding crowds. So the continued policy of turning off decorative lights was decided.
"This step is part of our efforts to support the control of Covid-19 cases in Malang City, which have increased again in recent times," added Wahyu.
Recorded cases under monitoring as of February 5, 2022 increased to 688 cases. Although the findings of the Malang City Health Office are that the majority of cases are asymptomatic. However, the Malang City Government remains vigilant and asks the entire community to work together. (ndu/ram)
