If You Want PTM to be Held Again, Here's the Advice from the Head of the Malang City Education and Culture Office

Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – Until now, face-to-face learning (PTM) is still considered an effective learning method so that students get adequate knowledge. However, because it is still in the middle of a pandemic and Covid-19 cases in Malang City have increased significantly, PTM has been replaced with distance learning (PJJ).

Head of the Department of Education and Culture (Disdikbud) of Malang City, Suwarjana

This was conveyed by the Head of the Malang City Education and Culture Office (Disdikbud), Suwarjana, SE., MM on Thursday (17/2/2022) when met after attending a review of the centralized isolation place (isoter) at the Joint Learning Activity Center (SKB) on Jalan LA Sucipto. According to him, basically more than 80 percent of parents want PTM, but the situation does not allow it.

"If PTM is to be held again, then all elements of society must implement strict health protocols. Not only always wearing masks and living a healthy lifestyle, but also limiting activities. Such as going out of town or traveling long distances, which can trigger someone to be exposed to Covid-19," he appealed.

When asked about teachers and students exposed to Covid-19, Suwarjana confirmed this. At least 25 students and 150 educators have tested positive for Covid-19 some time ago. However, he emphasized that the handling has been very good and most of them have recovered or are negative for Covid-19.

If PTM is held again, he said, it will be managed as well as possible so that the transmission of this dangerous virus is not massive. For example, for 100 percent PTM, students who enter will be divided into two waves, namely morning and afternoon. "After students who enter in the morning go home, the room will be sterilized and also in the afternoon or morning before students enter," explained Suwarjana.

"We are more like that, meaning it's okay to let teachers divide their teaching time. As long as PTM can be implemented by minimizing the transmission of Covid-19. On the other hand, we are currently also intensifying testing, tracing, and treatment to help the Malang City Government in suppressing Covid-19," he concluded. (say/ram)
