Residents Grateful to be Able to Participate in Journalism Training with Diskominfo

Malang (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Communication and Informatics Agency (Diskominfo) held a Malang City Citizen Reporter Journalism Training event at the Ijen Suites Hotel, Thursday (24/2/2022). This time, 75 participants from various groups were present, who were proposed by members of the Malang City DPRD, Thematic Musrenbang, and Sub-district and Village Musrenbang.

Member of the Malang City DPRD Ahmad Fuad Rahman, SE as one of the proposers of this activity expressed his appreciation for the organization of this citizen journalism training event. "We are very happy as members of the council that the activity we proposed can be realized by Diskominfo. We hope that this citizen journalist training activity can continue to be carried out. Hopefully it will become a good tradition and there needs to be a follow-up or follow-up to this activity," said Fuad.

Fuad also hopes that by increasing public literacy in journalism, the community can also become reporters. So that they can publish their area better. "If we have people who understand journalism, they will be able to report their environment to the public, that Malang is beautiful so it is worthy of being a tourist destination," he said.

A similar thing was also emphasized by his colleague, Ahmad Farih Sulaiman, S.Pd., who quoted a statement from Alvin Toffler, a writer and futurologist who said that whoever controls information will control the world.

Gus Farih, his nickname, added that in principle there are many things that can be done as a Malang citizen regarding various issues in Malang City. For example, by becoming a citizen reporter and utilizing appropriate technology.

Meanwhile, one of the training participants, Febri Wikoko, said that in this activity, participants gained insight and some tips from the presenters about video and social media. According to him, there were some new tips and applications obtained from this activity.

"Later we will inform other friends of the Community Information Group (KIM) so they can utilize it. So my hope is that every citizen can report, report about their village on social media. So that later it can become a brand image of Malang City," said Febri Wikoko from KIM Tanjungrejo Village, Sukun.

Similar things were expressed by Citra Amalia, a representative of the Muhammadiyah Student Association of Malang. According to her, activities like this are very useful to be held by Diskominfo. Because it can increase the insight and soft skills of the participants who come.

"This activity is very useful and increases my insight into journalistic principles, tips from the speakers on taking good videos or photos and so on. I hope that this training can be expanded to more participants," he concluded. (ari/ram)
