Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – Malang Mayor Drs. H. Sutiaji handed over halal certificates to three small and medium industry (IKM) players assisted by the Cooperatives, Industry and Trade Service (Diskopindag) during the morning assembly of state civil servants (ASN) in front of Malang City Hall, Monday (14/3/2022).

Mayor Sutiaji said that halal certification for SMEs will continue to be strengthened because it provides extraordinary benefits. Regarding halal certification, there are currently halal centers, from the Malang City Government there is one, from five universities in Malang City there are also one.
"We will continue to strengthen halal certification for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Because the issue of halal certification is a matter of demand," he explained.
According to him, the potential demand for halal in 2023 is up to 274 billion US dollars, so it must continue to follow. Sutiaji gave an example, for example, there is a restaurant that needs IKM/UMKM products, but because it has not been halal certified, it cannot.
"He explained that regarding halal certification, the process also follows the current one. And the benefits are extraordinary. The process is not troublesome and not complicated," he explained.
In his direction, Sutiaji invited to strengthen all lines. Along with the economic growth of Malang City which increased by 4,21%, he hopes that Malang City will become a fiscally independent city.
One of the SMEs that also received a halal certificate, Heni Wardhani, said that with this halal certificate, there are many benefits that are felt. According to her, the benefit of this halal certificate is one, making consumers sure whether this product is halal or not, especially since the majority of the community is Muslim.
"The second benefit is increasing the selling value of the product. So there is one restaurant, because my product is halal, they want to use my product as a topping for their product. Because they are one of the halal restaurants, so all the products they use automatically have a halal label," he explained.
The three SMEs that received halal certificates were MamaNi (sambal products), Bolen Malang (Bolen Products), and Elija (chocolate products). On that occasion, Sutiaji also handed over Land Rights Certificates to three small and medium enterprises (SMEs), Nutrition Fact Data Certificates to three SMEs and Market Traders' Halal Pledge Certificates.
