Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – Malang Mayor Drs. H. Sutiaji, this morning directly reviewed the implementation of face-to-face schooling (PTM) at SMP Negeri 8 Malang City. The implementation of face-to-face schooling is a follow-up to the issuance of Circular Letter of the Malang City Education and Culture Office (Disdikbud) Number: 421/1193/35.73.401/2022 regarding the implementation of limited face-to-face learning in schools on Friday, March 11, 2022.

Mayor Sutiaji reviewed several classes at the State Junior High School located on Jalan Arjuno, Malang City. Based on Sutiaji's monitoring of students in several classes he visited, almost all stated that they preferred studying at school. "Of the approximately 150 children, only two people enjoyed studying at home, the reason being that online can be more relaxed," said Sutiaji, Monday (14/3/2022).
"What we are doing now is not restrictions, but health protocols and we still control it. Whatever the variant, we use health protocols. I have confidence that we can fight this," he said.
According to him, the success rate of online learning only reached 40 percent. "Hopefully this will be able to catch up, we will still catch up on 60 percent in the remaining time," he hoped.
Sutiaji also revealed that Covid-19 testing in the school environment will also continue to be encouraged. For examinations for educators will be carried out routinely while for students will be carried out randomly.
Meanwhile, the Principal of SMP Negeri 8 Malang City, Anny Yulistyowati, S.Pd., MM, said that face-to-face learning would certainly make it easier for students and teachers.
"The children are used to having their temperature checked and their hands washed as soon as they arrive. We have also provided disinfectant in each class, so the Covid-19 task force in each class can spray every time they go home from school. On a large scale, it will be every Friday afternoon. After the children have gone home, our officers will spray. We have also prepared hand sanitizer at each door. There are also spare masks in the classroom," he said.
Learning at school now starts at 07.15 to 11.30 WIB. In between these hours, students are also given a break, but remain under the supervision of teachers. The arrangement of home hours has also been arranged in such a way as not to cause crowds. The Covid-19 Task Force is also trying to 'oprak-oprak' students to go home immediately.
Furthermore, Anny stated that in this school, 100 percent, namely 758 students, are taking part in face-to-face learning. She added that basically the school does not force the will that children must take part in face-to-face learning at school.
"If parents object to their children going to school, that's fine. So there is a statement letter stating whether or not their child is willing to attend. But with the note that we no longer have online. So parents must come to school to pick up materials at school," he said. (ari/ram)
