Inaugurating New Tower, Mayor Sutiaji: BRI is Extraordinary

Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – Malang Mayor Drs. H. Sutiaji gave positive appreciation for the construction and inauguration of the new building or tower of the BRI Malang Regional Office located on Jalan RE Martadinata Number 28-30, Friday (18/3/2022). According to him, the existence of this new infrastructure shows and is proof that BRI's performance reach is getting wider, especially in serving the community so that in the future their economy will be even better.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, said the number one person in the Malang City Government, especially in 2021, the economy in this city was stable and tended to strengthen. All of that, according to him, cannot be separated from the extraordinary active role of BRI and one of them is rolling out an empowerment program for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). "In the future, we hope that BRI will take a bigger role in efforts to boost the community's economy," he added.

As one of the government-owned banks, continued the bespectacled man, BRI also contributed greatly to development programs and social programs, especially in Malang City, so that the community also felt it. "From this tower, we hope that BRI Kanwil Malang will continue to provide the best, easy and fast service for all levels of society, especially small business actors," explained Mayor Sutiaji.

Meanwhile, BRI CEO Sunarso said that the tower will be used to empower MSMEs and as a place for BRI subsidiaries, such as BRI Finance and BRI general insurance. So that this building will be a means to diversify income, spreading risk, and strengthening services. "In addition to BRI regional offices in Bandung and Yogyakarta, Malang is one of the mainstays in empowering MSMEs," he said.

According to BRI's portfolio, said Sunarso, the program was allocated 83 percent, the majority of which were in Java, especially southern Java. During the Covid-19 pandemic, according to him, MSMEs were one of the business sectors that were greatly affected. However, his party has carried out restructuring carefully and with great caution. So that it succeeded in restructuring Rp245 trillion in credit for around 2,9 million customers. (say/ram)
