Violating Operating Hours, Officers Take Action Against Five Entertainment Venue Managers

Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – Joint officers consisting of the Malang City Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) and the TNI-Polri conducted an operation to control night entertainment venues, such as karaoke places and cafes from Saturday (26/3/2022) to Sunday (27/3/2022) in the early hours.

Officers asked for information from the manager of the night entertainment venue

This operation also follows up on the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs (Inmendagri) Number 18 of 2022 concerning the Implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) Level 3, Level 2 and Level 1 Coronavirus Disease 2019 in the Java and Bali Regions.

Head of Public Order and Security Division (Kabid Trantibum) of Malang City Satpol PP, Rahmat Hidayat said that the regulation was also followed up by the Circular of the Mayor of Malang Number 18 of 2022. From the joint operation, 10 entertainment venues and five places violated operating hours, namely at 23.59 WIB.

"Visitors also violated health protocols by crowding without maintaining distance, not wearing masks, and exceeding the maximum visitor quota of 50 percent. So officers dispersed the crowd and forcibly closed a number of night entertainment venues," added Rahmat.

Of the five places, he said, two of them were found to have alcoholic beverages and it is suspected that the management did not have a permit to sell alcoholic beverages. So in this operation, officers also confiscated several types and brands of alcoholic beverages. "We will later recheck the permit," continued Rahmat.

The bespectacled man further said, according to the applicable regulations, the managers of these night entertainment venues will be subject to minor criminal sanctions (tipiring) namely a maximum imprisonment of three months and/or a maximum administrative sanction of Rp50 million. "We also confiscated the identities of the visitors and when they were taken to the Satpol PP Office we will provide guidance," he explained.

For night entertainment venue managers who have been sanctioned and caught in operations again later, said Rahmat, officers will give even heavier sanctions, namely temporary closure to revocation of business licenses. "Joint operations like this will continue to be intensified, especially approaching the month of Ramadan and during the month of Ramadan all night entertainment venues and massage parlors must close," he concluded.
