Mayor of Malang Drs. H. Sutiaji handed over tree seedlings to be planted

"In commemoration of World Water Day, let us unite our spirit to inspire that water resources are a source of life that we must protect and preserve its sustainability," said East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa in the midst of her working visit accompanying Vice President (Wapres) Ma'ruf Amin in Ponorogo.

Likewise, the Mayor of Malang Drs. H. Sutiaji who was also present accompanied by the Deputy Mayor Ir. H Sofyan Edi Jarwoko invited all parties to give meaning to the commemoration of water day by continuing to increase concern for the environment.

"We invite all levels and the community, let's use water as best we can, because the water in the world is receding. We must have a movement to save water, plant and plant. Not today or tomorrow the benefits, but the future of our nation," said the mayor who is enthusiastic about developing urban farming.

Sutiaji also asked his staff together with the Malang City Environmental Cadre to maintain and preserve what has been planted today. He hopes to continue planting in other locations as an effort to reduce the impact of climate change and the risk of disasters due to extreme weather that has often occurred lately.

The 2022 World Water Day moment was centered at the Semantok Dam, Nganjuk Regency and was followed online. Participants consisting of all regencies/cities in East Java were filled with various activities to strengthen awareness and togetherness in protecting groundwater. This is in accordance with the theme of water day which carries the narrative 'Groundwater: Making the Invisible Visible.'
