Efforts to Reduce Flood Risk Through Bozem Blimbing

Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Government (Pemkot) through the Public Works, Spatial Planning, Housing and Residential Areas Agency (DPUPRPKP) built an artificial lake (bozem) as an effort to reduce inundation and flooding in the RW IX area of ​​Blimbing Village.

This is considered as one of the solutions to the puddles that often occur during heavy rain in the Borobudur Road area and around the Blimbing intersection, Malang City.

Head of DPUPRPKP Malang City Ir. Diah Ayu Kusumadewi, MT revealed that communication between her party and the local village and community has been carried out. So she hopes that the infrastructure construction process as part of reducing the risk of hydrometeorological disasters can be started immediately and run smoothly.

"We have communicated with the community. The design for developing this bozem also accommodates a number of aspirations. So later it will not only be for storing water, but it can also be for refreshing residents and economic empowerment. Intercropping is the term," said Diah, Tuesday (12/4/2022).

Diah added, the existing pool that is currently visible will be deepened so that the capacity can be doubled. Bozem Blimbing is planned to have a width of approximately 30,5 meters with a length of 39 meters and a pool depth of approximately 3 meters.

The woman in hijab said that the effort to build the Blimbing bozem and in several other city locations is also part of increasing groundwater reserves. This is learned from the pattern that was also carried out during the colonial era of Malang City spatial planning.

Meanwhile, Head of RW IX Blimbing Village Budi who was also met during the site review appreciated the steps of the Malang City Government. "God willing, residents support it because this is in accordance with the wishes of the residents here," said Budi.

In addition to its main function as a water reservoir, the Belimbing bozem will also have features such as a jogging track and a park that will be rearranged according to the residents' expectations, as well as a pond that can later also be developed as a city fisheries cultivation area. (ndu/ram)

    good, adding infiltration wells to each house would be even better, helping to reduce water discharge by increasing the water channels leading to the river.
