Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – Deputy Mayor of Malang Ir. H. Sofyan Edi Jarwoko together with the Malang City Police and the Malang City DPRD held a Cross-Sector Coordination Meeting (Rakor) for the 2022 Semeru Ketupat Operation at Malang City Hall, Wednesday (20/04/2022). This was done in preparation for securing the 1443 Hijri Eid al-Fitr holiday.

Bung Edi, Sofyan Edi Jarwoko's nickname, said that this year's Eid al-Fitr celebration will be different from last year's Eid. Because according to President Joko Widodo's direction, people are allowed to travel home after two years of restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
"However, on condition that you have received two vaccines and one booster, and continue to comply with health protocols. In addition, also anticipating the increase in Covid-19 cases during homecoming. I emphasize that health aspects continue to be considered," said Bung Edi.
Bung Edi predicted that this year's Lebaran celebration would be even more festive because of the many homecoming travelers. The previous year, Indonesian people could not travel because Indonesia was still in a pandemic emergency. "I think this shows preparation, so we can coordinate today," he said.
As many as 16,8 million residents are predicted to return to East Java. Therefore, his party appealed to various parties to prepare steps to provide a sense of security and comfort before and after Eid. Starting from welcoming the homecoming flow, prioritizing health protocols, providing vaccine and health services, maintaining the availability and stability of food prices, and meeting the needs of fuel oil (BBM) and LPG gas.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief of Malang City Police AKBP Deny Heryanto revealed that Operation Ketupat Semeru 2022 will last for 12 days, starting from April 28, 2022 to May 9, 2022. With the predicted peak of the homecoming flow from April 29, 2022 to May 2, 2022.
"We have made predictions of the threats that will emerge during Eid. Predictions of threats that could emerge, namely as a tourist destination, will cause increased congestion," he said.
To anticipate this, the Malang City Police are collaborating with the TNI and Malang City Government to work together in securing Eid by preparing seven security posts. Five Security Posts (Pos Pam), namely Borobudur Intersection, Sulfat Intersection, Soekarno-Hatta Bridge, former Mitra 1, and West Kacuk Intersection. Then, one Service Post (Pos Yan) at Malang Kota Baru Station, and one Integrated Post at the Madyopuro toll exit.
Also present at this coordination meeting were the Chairman of the Malang City DPRD I Made Riandiana Kartika, the Commander of the 0833 Malang City Kodim Lieutenant Colonel Kav.
