Klojen, (malangkota.go.id) – In order to help children with special needs in Malang City, the State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) held ecoprint and silk spinning training at the BUMN House, Jalan Raya Langsep Number 2-4B, Malang City, Wednesday (21/4/2022).

The speaker from Kupu Sutera Sri Isnawati said that the material provided was basic ecoprint material utilizing various leaves in the surrounding area. In this activity, the basics of spinning silk were also introduced. "In addition to being attended by children with disabilities, this activity also involved parents so that the training could be more effective," explained Sri Isnawati.
With parental guidance, it is hoped that learning for children with disabilities can be sustainable, not just today. But in the future, it is hoped that children can have the independence to develop businesses by continuing to work from home.
In addition to Malang City, currently Kupu Sutera has also provided education to disabled children who develop silkworm businesses in various areas in Malang Raya. This business has grown including in Malang City.
The disability companion from the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) for the Malang Raya area, Titik Rara Wulansari, said that the purpose of this activity is to provide knowledge and skills. The hope is that later people with disabilities can work and earn money.
"Every sub-district in Malang City already has a disability family association under the auspices of the social services, the decree is from the sub-district. The activities are also directly from the social services," said Titik.
Titik added, friends in the association also networked with various parties including silk butterfly businesses. From the network of friends with disabilities, the social service facilitated training. Previously, there was silkworm cultivation, silk thread spinning, even the social service had also provided silk spinning tools.
Meanwhile, BRI Malang Branch Manager M. Saleh hopes that from this activity, children with disabilities can be independent and have the provisions to become successful entrepreneurs. For that, mentoring will continue to be carried out so that people with disabilities can truly be independent.
"Currently, we are focusing on it, later when the business is big, we will help to develop it," said M. Saleh. (cah/ram)
