Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – Ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1443 Hijri and the implementation of Operation Ketupat Semeru 2022, the Traffic Unit of the Malang City Police held a trial of traffic engineering at a number of congestion points on Thursday (21/4/2022). Such as on Jalan Ahmad Yani north or the entrance to Malang City from the north or at the Jalan Borobudur intersection and the intersection towards Jalan LA Sucipto.
Deputy Head of Traffic Unit of Malang City Police AKP Kuntjoro Widiatmoko said, after the trial, it will be implemented directly in 1-2 days. This traffic engineering will be implemented at several congestion points and at three city border gates when the flow starts to get congested.
"The engineering of opening and closing this lane will be adjusted to the needs or conditions on the road at that time. If the flow is smooth then there is no engineering and drivers follow the directions of the Traffic Police officers on the road," he added.
Kuntjoro gave an example, such as vehicles from the direction of Batu City and Kediri Regency, at the Borobudur Road intersection leading to the heart of the city will be diverted to the left and turned under the flyover on Jalan Ahmad Yani Utara.
Vehicles from the north or from the cities of Surabaya, Pasuruan, Probolinggo who wish to enter Malang City before the Jalan Ahmad Yani north flyover will be diverted to the left or to Jalan Raden Panji Suroso.
On D-5 to D+3 of Eid al-Fitr, said Kuntjoro, large-scale vehicles that do not transport daily necessities such as basic necessities and fuel oil (BBM) are prohibited from entering Malang City. "From these various efforts will reduce congestion, provide a comfortable holiday for residents who are going home and the return flow later," he continued.
No less important, drivers are also urged to obey traffic signs and be healthy when driving so that all of that will help reduce the number of accidents. (say/ram)
