Cleaning Staff Alertly Guard the Environment During Eid

Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – The long holiday of Eid al-Fitr 1443 Hijriah did not dampen the dedication of the Malang City Government (Pemkot) cleaning staff in maintaining a clean and comfortable environment for the community. A quick response was maintained as demonstrated by the cleaning of the Pedestrian Bridge (JPO) on Jalan Merdeka Utara, Thursday (5/5/2022).

"In the morning around 08.00 WIB, we coordinated with the Diskominfo team regarding public reports via social media. We immediately followed up with a team and a water tanker truck to clean up the dirt. At 11.00 WIB it was clean again," explained Drs. Wahyu Setianto, MM, Head of the Environmental Service (DLH) of Malang City.

From the initial identification results of officers, it is estimated that the disturbance of the cleanliness of the JPO around the Malang Square is related to People with Mental Disorders (ODGJ). So that his party will coordinate further with Satpol PP and the P3AP2KB Social Service for the future.

Furthermore, Wahyu emphasized that the service commitment has been built and maintained for years by his staff. Moreover, the volume of waste is predicted to increase along with the easing of the homecoming policy so that many travelers return to their hometowns in Malang City.

"The volume of waste from initial monitoring at the TPA has increased compared to the normal volume of 600 tons per day. Officers are still on duty, the important thing is that the city is clean. But we also appeal to residents to reduce waste and protect their respective environments," added Wahyu.

Head of the Cleanliness and B3 Waste Division, Drs. Sunarka, M.AP added, to maintain the environment during Eid al-Fitr, DLH divided around 800 officers throughout the city into three work shifts. The dense activities and the desire to celebrate Eid with their respective families were responded to humanely through a rotation approach arranged by the coordinators of each region.

"Starting before dawn until midnight. If we take a day off, the trash will definitely pile up. So we take turns to visit, the important thing is that the service continues," Sunarka explained.

Meanwhile, Malang Mayor Drs. H. Sutiaji appreciated the fast performance of DLH officers and the role of the community. Including in responding to matters related to JPO cleanliness which he said was very important to carry out cooperation and mutual understanding.

"One sign of a developed city is the collaboration between the government and the community. Mutual cooperation, so of course appreciation for the information related to the cleanliness of the JPO alun-alun this morning. The wet water has been handled at the location. I also invite residents to celebrate the Eid holiday with as little waste as possible," said Sutiaji. (ndu/ram)
