Malang (malangkota.go.id) – Malang City continues to strive to be free from stunting. In order to accelerate the reduction of stunting, the Malang City Government has formed a Stunting Reduction Acceleration Team (TPPS) through the Decree of the Mayor of Malang dated March 28, 2022.

This is in line with the central government's target as stated in Presidential Regulation Number 72 of 2021, to achieve a stunting rate of 14 percent nationally.
Malang Mayor Drs. H. Sutiaji said that the issuance of the decree on the formation of TPPS is expected to coordinate, synergize, and evaluate the implementation of the acceleration of stunting reduction effectively, convergently, and integrated by involving cross-sectors at the city and district levels.
"There needs to be strengthening of work collaboration from various parties. This effort cannot be done by the government alone but requires the involvement of all parties, academics, media, and also the community. It takes hard work from all of us to eliminate sectoral egos because this convergence requires collaboration from various parties for this stunting problem," said Sutiaji at the TPPS Synergy and Strengthening activity at the Aria Gajayana Hotel, Thursday (19/5/2022).
The owner of the highest seat in the Malang City Government also said that the problem of stunting eradication requires support from the Forkopimda according to their respective duties and authorities. "We are indeed promoting this because Indonesia is still below the WHO standard, which is still at 23 percent. In Malang City, based on the weighing month in February 2022, the figure reached 9,85 percent," he said.
"For the target, at least it can go down again, I will see how it is in the RPJMD later. Currently in Indonesia, no one is free from stunting. We will strengthen public awareness of health issues. It turns out that from Covid-19 we can see that the poverty rate has increased, but the stunting rate has decreased. This means that when awareness is higher, God willing, stunting will decrease," he added.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Social Service, Women's Empowerment, Child Protection, Population Control and Family Planning (Dinsos-P3AP2KB) of Malang City, Dra. Penny Indriani, MM, said that in order to increase the commitment of all elements involved so that the target of reducing stunting in Malang City can be realized immediately.
"Based on the PK21 stunting tabulation data, it is known that there are 10 sub-districts with the highest risk of stunting in Malang City. Kota Lama Sub-district is the highest. Of the 4.069 target families, 3.567 are pregnant. This is followed by Pandanwangi, Bandungrejosari, Tanjungrejo, Purwantoro, Bumiayu, Bunulrejo, Madyopuro, Buring, and Sawojajar Sub-districts," he explained.
Head of the Malang City National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) Representative Office Dra. Maria Ernawati, MM was present as a resource person to express her appreciation to the Malang City Government for moving quickly in responding to the presidential regulation, related to efforts to accelerate the reduction of stunting rates. In addition, Erna also explained the mechanism and work procedures of TPPS, as well as the picture of stunting in Indonesia.
"The development of stunting data in Indonesia according to the Indonesian Nutritional Status Study (SSGI) from 2019 was at 27,7 and decreased to 24,4 in 2021. Meanwhile, in Malang City it reached 25,7 percent based on SSGI. To achieve the acceleration target, real synergy and convergence are needed. I am very optimistic because the Malang City TPPS can reduce the prevalence of stunting. Keep the spirit for the Malang City TPPS, I am sure Malang City can do it," he concluded.
At this event, Malang Deputy Mayor Ir. H. Sofyan Edi Jarwoko was appointed as the Head of the Implementation Team, explaining each task and function of each part of the team. Furthermore, he revealed that the number of families in Malang City that were targeted was 112.016 heads of families (KK), consisting of 85.828 families with potential risk of stunting and 26.188 families that were not at risk.
