One-Way Scenario for Tunggulmas Bridge Starting June 1

Malang (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Traffic Forum recommended four short-term action plan points to improve smooth movement in the Tlogomas area. One of them is the one-way engineering on the Tunggulmas Bridge which will be enforced starting June 1, 2022. This was agreed upon in a coordination meeting held at the Transportation Agency (Dishub) Office, Thursday (19/5/2022).

One-way engineering coordination meeting on Tunggulmas Bridge

Head of Transportation Agency Heru Mulyono, S.IP., MT revealed that the results of the evaluation after the reopening of the Tunggulmas Bridge indicated the need for further steps.

"While waiting for the installation of APILL, the flow is regulated in one direction, namely from Jalan Togomas to Jalan Saxophone. Starting June 1, 2022 and later periodic evaluations will be carried out," said Heru.

Heru added that the recommendation will be submitted soon to obtain the leadership's approval. Furthermore, if it has been approved, then the time span leading up to June 1, according to him, will be optimized to conduct socialization to road users and mature a number of follow-up steps.

Regarding the many vehicles that are still turning around around the Tunggulmas Bridge intersection, he appealed for order. This is because the markings on the provincial road are solid markings (straight without breaking) which means that turning around is not allowed.

"This means that according to the provisions, both before and after the bridge is built, there is indeed no turning back. Hopefully it is realized together for the sake of smoothness and safety," added Heru.

In addition to the one-way scheme, the Malang City Traffic Forum also agreed on three other points related to traffic engineering in Tunggulmas.

First, fixing the installation of separators/road barriers and the installation of no-turn signs. Second, the installation of APILL and repair of intersection legs are urgently needed. Third, updating the comprehensive transportation study of the Tlogomas and Tunggulwulung areas is urgently needed. (ndu/ram)
