Malang City Ready to Compete and Host East Java Arts Festival 2022

Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – Malang City held the 2022 City-Level Student Arts Week (PSP), Monday (9/6/2022). This activity is one of the stages of the provincial-level Arts Creation Week which is planned to be held in Malang City.

"Today we are holding PSP. From June 15 to 22, the winners of this competition will take part in the 2022 East Java Art Creation Week. Where Malang City will be the host," said the Head of the PSP Organizing Committee, Dr. Hendro Guntur, M.Pd.

Hendro stated that the activity held at SMP Negeri 4 Malang City was initiated by the Malang City Principals' Working Conference (MKKS). It is hoped that by holding this city-level competition, it can accommodate and become a venue for the appearance of all the talents of SMP students in Malang City.

"In addition, to select the best talents to represent Malang City in the provincial event which is planned to be held at the Malang City Cultural Arts Park," he said.

As the host, he said, Malang City wants to give the best performance. Therefore, the selection process is carried out very strictly. The performers representing various junior high schools in Malang City amazed the judges and the audience with their artistic talents.

There are seven competition categories in this event, namely poster competition, dance competition, poetry creation and reading, traditional music, choir, kasidah, and traditional theater.

The first winner in the Poetry Creation and Reading Competition was SMPN 19, the Dance Competition was won by SMPN 4. SMPN 14 won the Poster Competition. The Kasidah Competition was won by SMPN 16. The Choir Competition was won by SMPN 20.

Meanwhile, the Music and Traditional Competition and Traditional Theater Competition were won by SMPN 4. These winners will automatically represent Malang City in the East Java Art Creation Week and compete with 37 other regencies/cities. (ari/ram)
