Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – Handling the foot and mouth disease (FMD) outbreak continues to be a concern for the Malang City Government (Pemkot) together with cross-sector ranks. This is to maintain livestock health, the conduciveness of the livestock ecosystem and the community ahead of Eid al-Adha. One of them is through the first phase of vaccination held in Tlogowaru, Monday (27/6/2022).

Deputy Mayor of Malang Ir. H. Sofyan Edi Jarwoko who attended the vaccination activity with the Malang City Police Chief Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto, SIK, M.Si invited all parties to be vigilant and not panic in responding to the FMD outbreak.
"One of the keys is continuous coordination so that if there are indications in one area, report them immediately so that officers can handle them," said Bung Edi.
The first stage of vaccination has been given to 100 healthy cows, consisting of 27 dairy cows and 73 beef cows. There are five locations that the team has reached, namely Lesanpuro Village with 39 cows, Bakalankrajan with 8 cows and Tlogowaru with 14 cows. Then in Kedungkandang Village it was given to 4 cows and Buring Village with 35 cows. The type of vaccine given is Aftopor with a dose of 2 ml per cow.
Acting Head of the Food Security and Agriculture Service (Dispangtan) Sri Winarni, SH., MM added that vaccination is currently focused on healthy cattle to maintain immunity amid the FMD outbreak.
"Current data shows that Malang City received 300 doses of vaccine in the first phase. After today's activities, the animal health team will move to other sub-district locations," explained Winarni.
Also present at this event were the Kedungkandang Sub-district Head, Kedungkandang Police Chief, UB Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Team and local RT/RW administrators. (ndu/ram)
