Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – The East Java Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) was entrusted by the Central PWI to hold the 2022 National Journalists Sports Week (Porwanas). This sports festival for media crews was originally scheduled to be held in 2019. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it was postponed and can only be held this year or to be precise on November 21-27.

In its implementation, the East Java PWI entrusted it to the Malang Raya PWI, so various preparations have been made since some time ago. This includes holding an audience with three regional heads in Malang Raya, so that the implementation of Porwanas runs smoothly. Regarding this, the ranks of the Central, East Java and Malang Raya PWI as well as elements of the PWI Sports Journalist Section (SIWO) held an audience at the Malang City Hall, Wednesday (6/7/2022).
The group was received in the Tumapel Room by the Deputy Mayor of Malang, Ir. H. Sofyan Edi Jarwoko who was accompanied by the Head of the Youth, Sports and Tourism Office of Malang City, Dr. Ida Ayu Made Wahyuni, SH., M.Si and the Head of the Communication and Informatics Office of Malang City, Muhammad Nur Widianto, S.Sos. From this audience, in essence, it was conveyed by Sofyan Edi, the Malang City Government is very supportive and willing to facilitate a number of needs related to the implementation of Porwanas.
"Therefore, we invite the Head of Disporapar who has the authority and knows the sports facilities that are suitable for use. For football we have Gajayana Stadium, for tennis courts it can be on Jalan Surabaya and badminton at Universitas Brawijaya. The Kominfo Service will later help the media center, especially for the internet network so that news delivery runs smoothly," explained the man who is often called Bung Edi.
The bespectacled man further said, Porwanas is a very good event. From this event, according to him, it is possible that many quality athletes will be born. "On the other hand, of course this event will further enhance the relationship between journalists throughout Indonesia and between journalists and policy makers," added Bung Edi.
The statement was agreed by the Head of the Central PWI, Atal Sembiring Depari. He said that later there will be around 3.680 journalists who will compete in 10 sports. Such as badminton, table tennis, tennis, soccer, futsal, e-sports and chess. "They certainly will not be alone, because they will be accompanied by officials and many will definitely bring their families. So it is estimated that there will be around 5.000 people," he explained.
Atal added, the match location will use facilities in Malang Raya and there will be exhibition matches, such as gymnastics, stilts, gobak sodor and karaoke which will be followed by the wives and children of journalists. In addition, there will also be football and/or futsal whose participants are from regional heads. "We hope for the support of all parties and the opening of the plan by the Ministry of Youth and Sports," he explained. (say/ram)
