Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – As a form of appreciation to the community for their obedience in paying taxes, the Malang City Government (Pemkot) through the Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda) held the 2022 Tax Awareness Fun Walk at Malang City Hall, Sunday (24/7/2022).

Malang Mayor, Drs. H. Sutiaji said, this tax awareness event is an annual routine event of Bapenda which is intended to give awards to people who are obedient in paying taxes, especially land and building tax (PBB). Where taxes that become regional income are allocated back to the community through various development programs in Malang City.
"We would like to express our gratitude for your presence, it means that you agree that your awareness to contribute to building your region is good. Hopefully you can bring home the prize, if you haven't received it, it's okay, at least you can be healthy because you have participated in gymnastics and healthy walking," said Mayor Sutiaji to the residents of Bumi Arema who participated in the 2022 Tax Awareness Gebyar Healthy Walk.
Mayor Sutiaji added, in addition to being a form of appreciation for Malang City taxpayers, this activity is also in order to provide motivation and stimulation to the community so that awareness of the obligation to pay taxes increases, both literately and implementatively. So that the hope is that the Malang City tax revenue target until the end of 2022 can be met.
“Paying taxes is actually a place for worship and charity. So don't think that what is used has no meaning. Because the money spent is for scholarships, for teachers of the Koran, muezzins, mosque caretakers, to help all religious communities, to build roads and others. So if it is intended to help others, God willing, it will be more enthusiastic," he explained.
Sutiaji further explained that all people who attended were those who had paid their taxes. Because one of the requirements for participating in this healthy walk to get coupons and exchange coupons is to have paid their 2022 taxes.
Meanwhile, the Head of Bapenda Malang City, Dr. Handi Priyanto, AP., M.Si revealed that regional taxes account for 93% of the original regional income (PAD). So indirectly the majority of development in Malang City relies on the tax sector, one of which is PBB, in addition to BPHTB and restaurant taxes.
"Indeed, nominally it is not yet 100% at the moment, approximately 50% approaching maturity. However, as of August 1, there will be an amnesty so that it is free from administrative fines for PBB and other regional taxes. We hope that the public will take advantage of the three-month fine-free period for those who have not paid PBB or other regional taxes. There is an opportunity to make payments without being subject to fines, namely in August, September and October," he explained.
For the tax value in the first semester that has been collected is IDR 280 billion with a target of IDR 566 billion. While for the 2022 PBB target of IDR 88 billion, currently IDR 50 billion has been received. At the end of October, Bapenda will again hold the 2nd tax awareness event as a reward and appreciation for those who have paid PBB and other regional taxes.
"So our hope is that development in Malang City can be implemented and sustainable. Then all aspirations and input from the community can be fulfilled, so pay your taxes. Because taxes are from the community, for the community and by the community," concluded Handi.
