Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – 16 junior high school students in Malang City who are members of two Scout Troops will participate in the 2022th National Jamboree XNUMX. This grand event for Scouts will be held at the Cibubur Camping Ground and Tourism Center (Buperta), East Jakarta with the theme "Cheerful, Dedicated, and Achieving".
The Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji expressed his appreciation for the readiness of the Malang City Branch Office (Kwarcab). He expressed his gratitude to the Scout leaders in Malang City who had brought the Scout members to participate in the national event.
"We hope that the younger siblings can reflect and bring the good name of Malang City, a city full of achievements and dedication. I believe that because they have been well-trained, these talents can excel on behalf of Malang City," he said while attending the Release of the XI 2022 National Jamboree Contingent of the Malang City Scout Branch, Friday (29/7/2022) at the Malang City Scout Building.
Sutiaji also expressed his admiration for the Scouts. The bespectacled man was deeply moved when the song Indonesia Raya was sung loudly and sincerely. According to him, this shows the love of the Scouts for their homeland which must be nurtured and preserved.
"I have also seen it directly during training. Now I am sending them off, it is an honor for me to be able to escort the children. Later they will also be seen in the eyes of the world, because Scouts are not only in Indonesia," he concluded.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Malang City Kwarcab, Drs. Heri Sunarko said that the 16 selected students had undergone a strict selection held in January 2022. "This selection was carried out at the sub-district level in five sub-districts and hundreds of people took part in the selection. Finally, these 16 people emerged, so each sub-district has representatives. The number of 16 is a provision from the national sub-district and cannot be more," he said.
Heri further said that the 16 members of the Penggalang Scouts had undergone training for more than two months to take part in the event which was held on August 12-21, 2022. The training was held at the Kwarcab and Pusdiklatcab Wita Raga Madyopuro. According to him, the two teams were ready to take part in the "party" of Penggalang Scouts from all over Indonesia which was also attended by around 11 countries in the Asia Pacific region.
"The core of scouting activities is brotherhood, instilling national insight values, forming life skills, and character building. There they will meet fellow scouts from all over the archipelago and even from scouts from outside Indonesia such as Malaysia and Thailand. With the main mission being world peace," said the man who is the Klojen Sub-district Head.
Heri explained that there are various activities that will be followed by participants, including those related to scouting technical technology, navigation, campsites, information technology, journalism, adventurers, and so on. "Later, participants will take home a sign of participation in the activity. This is a pride for Scouts Penggalang, because it will only be owned by those who participate in the National Jamboree which is held once every five years," he continued. (ari/ram)
