Maintaining Local Wisdom to Boost Tourism and Economy

Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – On Sunday, July 31, 2022 afternoon, residents of Kampung Badut, Karang Besuki Village, Sukun District held a traditional village thanksgiving or tasyakuran event in the area of the local Badut temple. This event is a form of gratitude or thanks to God Almighty for the blessings and sustenance received so far.

Bringing various foods and fruits of the land accompanied by traditional arts, hundreds of residents filled the courtyard of the Badut temple to perform prayer. Not only religious figures and community leaders, young people who are members of the youth organization also participated in this activity

Deputy Mayor of Malang, Ir. H. Sofyan Edi Jarwoko after the joint prayer event said that this tradition which is local wisdom must be maintained and preserved well. Moreover, the event was held in a historical place and became an icon of the nation like this. "From this tradition which is also a legacy of our ancestors, it will also boost the number of tourist visits to Malang City," he said.

The man who is familiarly called Bung Edi added, more concretely, because the event was packaged in an interesting way, and in the midst of advances in information technology like today, there must be many netizens or media who publish it.

"If an art and culture is uploaded to social media and even mainstream media, it will certainly bring attraction to those who read it. From here it is hoped that it will increase the number of tourist destinations, especially foreign tourists when coming to Malang City," explained the bespectacled man.

If it is realized, he said, it will automatically significantly boost the economy of the surrounding community. Bung Edi gave an example, residents can sell various culinary delights and souvenirs for tourists to take home, so that the community's economy will continue to grow.

This local wisdom, said Bung Edi, is a wealth and treasure of colorful culture that must be maintained together. To be used as a tourist destination, the capital is already there and just needs to be developed, then the participation of the community is also extraordinary. "Just give it a touch with other activities so that it becomes a cultural-based tourism event," he explained.

To realize all of that, Bung Edi asked that all elements of society play an active role. Especially young people, religious figures, community leaders and policy makers, such as village heads and sub-district heads. "With togetherness and mutual support, whatever will be a common goal will certainly be realized well," he concluded. (say/ram)
