Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – To arouse a sense of love for the homeland and increase the spirit of nationalism of the Indonesian people, especially in the land of Arema, the Malang City Government (Pemkot) distributed 10 million red and white flags, Monday (1/8/2022).

The red and white flag was symbolically handed over by the Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji to five sub-districts in Malang City and representatives of Regional-Owned Enterprises (BUMD) during the morning assembly in the yard of Malang City Hall.
"The momentum of August 17 this time must be different from previous years, as I often say that today must be better than yesterday and tomorrow must be better than today. Currently we are experiencing a degradation of the patriotism of the nation's children, this is our threat. Where the disruption of technological progress is expected to be its beneficial value," said Sutiaji.
The movement to distribute 10 million red and white flags is a follow-up to the appeal from the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) of the Republic of Indonesia. As recommended by the central government, explore the values of patriotism, history, NKRI, Bhinneka Tunggal Ika to be embedded in the motherland. That red and white is the only one to be strengthened in the Indonesian archipelago.
"The values of patriotism have begun to fade, so with the enthusiasm of 77 years of Indonesian independence, the hope is to rise. Moreover, at this time the digital disruption is extraordinary, for that we are reminded not to forget that Indonesia's independence is due to the extraordinary sacrifices of our fighters," he added.
Mayor Sutiaji said that in the past, raising the red and white flag was a risk of life. So he invited the people of Malang City, all agencies and offices in the Malang City Government, BUMD, private and banking to raise the red and white flag to enliven the 77th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia.
"How do we revive the value of patriotism? People have begun to forget that Indonesia's independence did not happen suddenly, so let's go back to looking at history, it's amazing that from Sabang to Merauke it can be intact. How do we revive the value of patriotism? So let's go back to looking at the history of independence, it's amazing that from Sabang to Merauke it can be intact and united," he explained.
He advised that the goal of independence be a reflection, whether it is truly independent and has upheld the values of independence. On this occasion, Sutiaji also expressed his appreciation for the performance of all state civil servants (ASN) in the Malang City Government environment where there is a graph of increasing work and performance as well as achievements achieved.
"One of them is Malang City which received an award in the category of ASN Management and Implementation of Performance Management Application from the State Civil Service Agency (BKN). The good ones are improved, the bad ones are fixed," said Sutiaji to all ASN participants in the morning assembly.

On that occasion, Mayor Sutiaji and Deputy Mayor, Ir. H Sofyan Edi Jarwoko also received the handover of participant cards from BPJS Ketenagakerjaan which indicated that they had been registered. Sutiaji expressed his appreciation to BPJS Ketenagakerjaan which continues to provide assistance and literacy to the community, that the state is present to provide security and comfort both when carrying out activities.
