Helping MSMEs, Malang City Government Wins IDEAS Award

Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Government won the Gold Winner award in the category of Social Media Management that Supports Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) from the Indonesia DEI & ESG Award (IDEAS) in Labuan Bajo, West Nusa Tenggara, Friday (5/8/2022).

Head of the Communication and Informatics Agency (Diskominfo) of Malang City, Muhammad Nur Widianto, S.Sos said that this award was achieved due to the commitment of the Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji in efforts to restore the economy in Malang City.

According to Mr. Wid, as he is usually called, said that all regional apparatuses were emphasized by the mayor to have innovation in accelerating economic recovery after the Covid-19 pandemic. One of them is through the management of the management and utilization of social media, as continues to be intensified by the Malang City Communication and Information Service.

"The mayor's direction, Diskominfo translates or becomes the marketing of UMKM in Malang City. Therefore, we created the UMKM of The Week program," said Pak Wid.

This program continues to be intensified every Sunday to the wider community through social media managed by the Malang City Government. Among them, Instagram with 105 thousand followers, Twitter 64 thousand, and Fanpage 17 thousand, as well as the website malangkota.go.id. All social media of the Malang City Government have been verified, aka blue tick.

"Every week we promote MSME profiles and products in turn," he continued.

Mr. Wid added that the Malang City Government's social media not only broadcasts the UMKM of The Week program. But there are also the Ekraf of The Week and Legendary Culinary columns. According to Mr. Wid, this award sharpens the previous award won by the Malang City Communication and Information Office at the 2022 East Java Communication and Information Festival. Where the UMKM of The Week column has innovation and creative values.

Through this award, the Mayor of Malang, Sutiaji, was named the Most Popular Mayor in the Online Media Timeline.

"Thank you to the regional apparatus who have worked hard for the progress of Malang City. Of course this is the result of joint work in the spirit of collaboration, acceleration, and rising together," said Mayor Sutiaji.

Sutiaji said that his party often conveys and emphasizes to regional apparatus about economic recovery or MSMEs. According to him, it is not only the task of the Cooperatives, Industry and Trade Service (Diskopindag). But a shared task, the task of the Malang City Government.

Meanwhile, Founder & CEO of Humas Indonesia, Asmoro Wikan said, it is increasingly important to communicate issues related to DEI and ESG.

"The issue of social inclusion, for example, needs serious attention from organizations/corporations. Especially from their leaders so that the communication strategies implemented are more relevant, empathetic, and impactful," said Asmono.

IDEAS is an aspiration for public relations (PR) people who have communicated the best diversity, equity, inclusion (DEI) and environmental, social, government (ESG) practices in their organizations.
