Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – Malang Mayor, Drs. H. Sutiaji together with the Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) attended the 2022 National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) for Inflation Control with the theme 'Synergy for Price Stabilization and National Food Security,' at the State Palace, Jakarta, Thursday (18/8/2022).
The meeting was opened directly by President Jokowi. On this occasion, Jokowi reminded the relevant ranks to work together in efforts to control inflation in the country. "I want the regents, mayors, governors to really want to work together with the TPID team in the regions and the Inflation Control Team in the center. Ask in our regions what prices are increasing, which causes inflation," he requested.
Jokowi said that inflation is a threat to every country. Furthermore, the president said that the inflation rate in Indonesia is at 4,94%. The president also compared it with inflation in other countries which even reached above 5 percent, some even reached 79 percent. The European Union is already at 8,9 percent, America is already at 9,1 percent yesterday it fell to 8,5 percent.
The President also encouraged regions to accelerate the absorption of the State Budget (APBD). The President hopes that his staff will not work routinely, they will not work standard. Jokowi said that until today, APBD spending has still been absorbed by 39,3 percent or around Rp472 trillion. In fact, according to him, APBD absorption is very important for spurring money circulation in the regions so that economic growth occurs in the regions.
"This is what is called the APBD, it must be released soon so that it can circulate in the community. This is very important. I checked the APBD at the bank. I have to check small things like this and I have to know the figures for how much APBD money is in the bank. It is still IDR 193 trillion, very large. This is what must be encouraged to help spur economic growth in the region," he said.
"We cannot work standard, we cannot work routinely because the situation is not normal. We can no longer apply standard standards, fixed standards. Once again, this is an abnormal world. So we have to work macro, micro and the details of the numbers must be known," he said.
Responding to this, the Mayor of Malang, Sutiaji, revealed that he had collaborated with various regions. "In accordance with the president's recommendation, inflation control will be carried out immediately in the regions, namely by cooperating between regions. We have collaborated with Banyuwangi, Malang Regency, Blitar, Batu, Jakarta. So that the hope is that inflation in Malang City can be controlled," he said when met after attending the Inflation Control Coordination Meeting online.
Sutiaji revealed that there are several food commodities that affect inflation. However, the inflation lever in Malang City is greater than the non-food sector.
"In Malang City, what actually affected inflation yesterday (July) was mostly in the transportation sector, then the needs of school children, including housing. God willing, we will continue to monitor. The President also told the Minister of Home Affairs to draft regulations on how reserve funds in the regions can also be used for market operations when needed," said Sutiaji.
Sutiaji said that his party also plans to collaborate with companies to provide corporate social responsibility (CSR) for the implementation of market operations. After attending the national coordination meeting, the Mayor of Malang and the Regional Secretary of Malang City received a Token of Appreciation (ToA) from the Head of the BI Malang Representative Office, Samsun Hadi. The ToA given was in the form of a sheet of 2022 Emission Year Banknotes which were also just launched by Bank Indonesia today. (ari/ram)
