Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – Malang Mayor, Drs. H. Sutiaji gave his appreciation to Bank Indonesia (BI) which continues to strengthen the ease of digital payments for the community, especially micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) with the use of the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS).
This was conveyed by Mayor Sutiaji when attending the Peak of the National QRIS Week (PQN) 2022 at the Bank Indonesia Malang Office yard, Jl. Merdeka Number 7, Saturday (20/8/2022). Through QRIS, it is hoped that it can continue to encourage increasing economic growth in Indonesia, especially in Malang City.
"Indonesia has a spirit of mutual cooperation, a spirit of independence. Thank you because BI's activities have involved all communities, across communities, including MSMEs," he said.
Furthermore, Sutiaji added that economic growth in Malang City and inflation control were also driven by BI. For that, he always invites all parties to strengthen the struggle so that the economy becomes stronger.
"We strengthen the habit of good things with our MSMEs, especially those who pioneered QRIS. In the past, when we shopped at modern stores or retailers, the return was in the form of candy or directed to be donated. Now, by using QRIS, everything is more transparent and transactions can be automatically recorded in each account or smartphone. Congratulations to all of us, now we have started transacting using QRIS," he concluded.
Meanwhile, Head of Bank Indonesia Malang Representative Office, Samsun Hadi said that non-cash transactions through QRIS continue to be encouraged. This activity encourages education to the public that QRIS is one of the easier payments for all. Because now everything is available and done through gadgets, including in making any transactions.
"QRIS has been planned and running for three years since its launch on August 17, 2019. Currently, there are around 20 million users. QRIS's development is very rapid and continues to evolve in addition to the nominal transaction amount and its tools and features which are also continuously developing," explained Samsun.
Samsun explained that QRIS carries the spirit of "UNGGUL" which is universal, easy, profitable and direct to encourage transaction efficiency and accelerate financial inclusion to advance MSMEs which can ultimately encourage economic growth.
"In addition to QRIS services providing easy contactless digital transactions for the public. Where buyers only need to scan the merchant's QRIS code to complete their transactions without making direct contact, there is also QRIS Without Face to Face (TTM) which is an alternative and complements the choice of remote payment methods. Currently, QRIS can also be used across countries," he continued.
The peak event of PQN 2022 at the Bank Indonesia Malang Office, which was enlivened by joint cycling activities and an UMKM bazaar, was closed with drum beating by Mayor Sutiaji together with the Head of the Bank Indonesia Malang Representative Office and the Commander of the Malang City Air Force Base.
