Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Government through the Manpower, Investment and Integrated One-Stop Service Agency (Disnaker PMPTSP) continues to strive to improve the competence of the workforce in Malang City.
Drinking coffee or ngopi is now increasingly becoming a part of the lifestyle across generations. It is no wonder that the coffee shop and cafe business is growing rapidly in Malang City. The mushrooming of the coffee business in Malang City will certainly open up job opportunities in this business.
Acting Head of the Malang City PMPTSP Manpower Office, Siti Mahmudah, SE., MM said that the competence, skills, and competitiveness of job seekers must be improved to be more empowered in the competition to get a job, in this case as a barista.
According to him, barista is a fairly prestigious profession, the skills and knowledge about coffee possessed by a barista are very much needed by cafes, restaurants or any place that serves coffee.
"The purpose of holding barista training is to improve knowledge, insight, skills, and competence. The goal is so that it can be used as provisions for finding work or starting a business. Ultimately, it will be able to increase income and community welfare," he said when opening the training, Monday (22/8/2022).
Furthermore, Mahmudah said that the increasing number of coffee shops being built today shows that the trend of coffee drinks is increasingly popular among people in Indonesia. The rise of coffee shops has also made the barista profession a job that is in great demand by young people.
The six-day training was held at Maxone Ascent Hotel and attended by 50 job seekers in Malang City. Participants not only received training materials, but also took a competency test, to measure the participants' abilities after the training. (ari/ram)
