Lowokwaru, (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Government's swift and precise action in handling foot and mouth disease (FMD) in pets has borne sweet fruit. Through systematic handling, the spread of FMD in Malang City is now at zero, Wednesday (24/8/2022).

Head of Animal Husbandry and Animal Health, Malang City Food Security and Agriculture Service (Dispangtan), drh. Anton Pramujiono revealed, currently for FMD cases in Malang City there are zero cases. From the latest data there are 444 FMD cases in Malang City that have occurred.
"Of the 444 FMD cases in Malang City, 227 recovered, 3 died, and 164 livestock were forcibly slaughtered. Currently, no more FMD cases have been found in Malang City," explained Anton.
FMD cases in Malang City consist of 421 cows, 254 recovered, 3 died, and 164 were forcibly slaughtered. For buffalo FMD cases, 21 cases occurred and all recovered. For goats, two and recovered.
Although FMD cases in Malang City are currently at zero, Anton appealed to farmers in Malang City to remain vigilant. Maintaining the cleanliness of the cage, carrying out vaccinations, immediately providing information to Dispangtan when livestock show signs of FMD.
Dispangtan Malang City has also coordinated with the East Java Provincial Government and also the Malang City Government for the procurement of medicines to anticipate FMD. Where currently the medicines are available so that if there is another FMD incident, Malang City is ready to handle it.
"Both medicines from provincial aid and from the Malang City APBD are currently at the Dispangtan so that whenever they are needed, everything is ready," said Anton.
In the treatment process, Dispangtan Malang City collaborates with veterinarians in Malang City. Both from the animal health center and delegations from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at one of the state universities in Malang City.
"Doctors from the animal health center to the field for prevention also carried out information and education communication (KIE) to the farmers," explained Anton. (cah/ram)
