Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – As a citizen of Malang City, of course, we must be proud of the existence and possession of various arts and cultures. Like the Malangan Mask, bantengan and jaranan which must continue to be maintained and preserved so that they do not become extinct eroded by the progress of the times. This is a shared homework so that the traditional culture can be continued and passed on to the next generation of this nation.

The emphasis was conveyed by the Assistant for General Administration, Malang City Regional Secretariat, Sri Winarni, SH., MM when opening the Malang City cultural week at the Mpu Purwa Museum, Friday (26/8/2022). The theme of this event is '800 Years of Singhasari', cultural ambassadors, udeng, heirlooms, objects of cultural advancement and the Malangkucecwara cultural market.
Such an event, according to him, will be a vehicle to foster enthusiasm and motivation in efforts to explore, preserve and develop cultural values that live, grow and develop in community life. With the diversity of its citizens, Malang City has the potential for multi-ethnic culture.
"If this can be packaged well, it will be a priceless asset to form a strong community character and can be the main support in developing the tourism industry in Malang City," added the woman in the hijab.
Winarni further said, with the rapid progress of information and communication technology today, the flow of globalization is also spreading throughout the world including to Malang City, so that inevitably it will affect culture. "From this condition, it triggers concerns, the culture that we have and has high value will fade due to the negative influence of culture from outside," he explained.
Therefore, he said, the study, development and actualization of cultural arts is one of the effective antidote methods to become a filter so as not to lose one's identity. "Therefore, efforts towards improving the quality, innovation and creation of cultural arts are effective solutions to provide value for cultural development in the future," concluded Winarni.
