Malang, (malangkota go.id) – Like other citizens in general, in August, many residents held various events to enliven the commemoration of the 77th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia, including residents of RW 8, Cemorokandang Village, Kedungkandang District on Sunday (28/8/2022). Various events were also held, such as a healthy walk, tug of war competition, UMKM culinary product bazaar and others.
In this series, one of the interesting things is the theatrical war to expel the colonialists by a number of residents wearing freedom fighter uniforms and war equipment made from recycled materials, the residents demonstrated the expulsion of the Dutch colonialists.
Together with the youth and residents, the Indonesian fighters demonstrated the expulsion of Dutch soldiers in the city of Surabaya at that time, which was also marked by the tearing of the Dutch flag, from its original red, white, and blue colors to red and white.
This theatrical action was also appreciated by the Deputy Mayor of Malang, Ir. H. Sofyan Edi Jarwoko after witnessing the heroic actions of the residents. According to him, such actions must continue to be echoed in order to remember the services and sacrifices of the nation's heroes when expelling the invaders and for the sake of the red and white flying in the sky.
"At that time, the fighters and the Indonesian people worked together and were willing to sacrifice their lives to shout the word independence. So that from this performance, it can increase and strengthen the sense of nationalism and patriotism, especially for the young people," added the man who is often called Bung Edi.
He further said, one of the messages from the theatrical is that the truth will eventually be realized even though it takes time. Because what, although the proclamation of independence occurred in 1945, but Indonesia's sovereignty was only recognized on December 27, 1949, it took 4 years. "It's just a matter of time, the truth will be realized," he said.
At this moment, the bespectacled man also advised residents to fill their independence with positive things. Currently, the community is still fighting the Covid-19 pandemic, so togetherness is needed in various things. Such as implementing health protocols, following at least the third dose of vaccination and economic recovery efforts.
Thus, Bung Edi explained, in accordance with the theme of this year's Indonesian Independence Day, namely recovering faster and rising stronger, it can be realized well. "We are optimistic that all of this will pass if we are willing to unite and move together," he concluded. (say/ram)
