Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – The collaborative revitalization of Kasin Market in Malang City has resulted in the achievement of the title of People's Market that has SNI 8152-2021. The proud title was presented directly by the Minister of Trade, Zulkifli Hasan to the Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji at the Ministry of Trade Award Ceremony in Samarinda, Wednesday (31/8/2022).

Minister of Trade, Zulkifli Hasan in his speech reminded the importance of the central and regional governments working together to be aware of and anticipate the impact of the global geopolitical and economic situation which is full of uncertainty.
"Facing the current situation, prices can rise quickly. So governors, regents, mayors have their own trade service instruments which are very important to monitor daily prices of basic commodities," said Zulhas.
In this context, the presence of a comfortable and conducive people's market also plays an important role. Moreover, Zulhas reminded that the pandemic is not over yet, plus the risk of monkeypox transmission makes the challenge even more complex.
Meanwhile, the Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji after receiving the SNI Pasar Rakyat award said that this success was inseparable from the hard work of all parties.
"Thankfully today we represent the people of Malang City to receive this award. Of course the bottom line is that there is collaboration between the ranks of the Malang City Government with traders and visitors, banking, and campuses also play a role behind all of this," said Sutiaji.
Kasin Market is the only representative from East Java to win the SNI award this time along with five other markets throughout Indonesia.
In aggregate, Kasin Market is the second traditional market in Malang City to achieve SNI predicate after previously being achieved by Oro-Oro Dowo Market.
This is inseparable from the physical and non-physical revitalization in the 2019-2020 period which increased comfort for 180 traders and visitors to the market covering an area of approximately 3.407 m2 which has been established since 1932.
Kasin Market with 28 kiosks and 269 stalls is now equipped with various facilities according to SNI such as health and lactation rooms, measuring rooms, toilets, security posts, CCTV, IT facilities, and prayer rooms. In addition, the market also provides a smoking area, sanitation, green areas, temporary TPS and loading zones.
From the non-physical side, strengthening non-cash transactions based on QRIS and the establishment of UMKM Corners are also present at Kasin Market.
Sutiaji asked that the success of Kasin Market be replicated in other people's markets so that the acceleration of people-based economic recovery can be realized.
