Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Government continues to strive to increase the number of tourist visits. This time, on Saturday (3/9/2022) through the Youth - Sports and Tourism Service (Disporapar) held an event entitled the mask parade. This Malang mask parade was held in Kampung Desaku Menanti, Tlogowaru Village, Kedungkandang District.

In addition to parading, local residents together with artists and young people also present traditional dances, such as the sabrang dance and the bapang dance using masks. From various performances in the village which is also nicknamed the mask village to provide entertainment to residents and boost the number of tourist visits.
Those were some of the things conveyed by the Head of Destination and Industry Division of Malang City's Disporapar, Lita Irawati after the event. She added that various parties were involved and invited to this event, such as communities, art activists and non-governmental organizations, so that they are expected to later help promote the beauty and comfort of tourism in this mask village.
The woman in hijab added that this event was initiated in order to revive the tourist destination of the mask village located in Desaku Menanti. The hope is that with this event we will present a cultural event in the form of the traditional dance, a typical Malang dance, namely the Bapang mask dance and several other dances so that many people will attend here.
Furthermore, Lita said that what is offered in this village includes beautiful scenery, cool air and there is also an icon of Malang City in the form of a mask, and there is also a play area for children. "Kampung Topeng is very suitable for family tourism," she continued.
Before being named Kampung Masker, in 2015-2016 this village was known as a village to accommodate people living on the streets, such as scavengers, beggars and buskers. Over time, various empowerment programs were launched by the Malang City Government. For example, training in making masks, cakes and handicrafts.
In the end, local residents can live independently from the skills they have. "By traveling to this place, besides visitors can enjoy the natural beauty for free and the cool air, local residents also offer a variety of culinary and snacks from their hands," concluded Lita. (say/ram)
