Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – As of July 2022, the stunting rate in Malang City based on the monthly weighing carried out in 16 health centers was at 9,55 percent of the target set in the RPJMD of 14 percent. This stunting rate continues to decline from year to year. As a concrete manifestation of the implementation of the Malang City Government's agenda which is committed to reducing stunting rates, the Rembuk Stunting was held: Convergence Action to Accelerate Stunting Reduction in Malang City, Monday (5/9/2022).

Malang Mayor, Drs. H. Sutiaji emphasized that the problem of stunting is not the business of a particular group or regional apparatus. However, it is a shared responsibility, both institutionally and personally. "Therefore, the Stunting Discussion attended by various parties is expected to agree on a program and activities for preventing stunting that are integrated between specific and sensitive interventions," said Sutiaji.
Sutiaji hopes that the program will have an impact on the community and always involve the potential of the pentahelix from the beginning to the evaluation stage.
Furthermore, Sutiaji explained that there are several areas where the stunting rate is still high, one of which is due to the high number of fertile couples in the area. "Like Tlogomas, Dinoyo, the poverty rate is low but that doesn't mean (it's safe from stunting), but because there are many fertile couples, the potential for stunting in the area will also be high. Later we will strengthen it, so that public awareness to improve their standard of living for the better. When fertile couples do not manage their lives, it is possible that they will have stunted children," he said.
Given the importance of handling stunting, the Malang City Government has formed a Stunting Handling Acceleration Team (TPPS) in March 2022, chaired by the Deputy Mayor of Malang, Ir. Sofyan Edi Jarwoko. On this occasion, Sofyan Edi Jarwoko expressed his gratitude for the cooperation that has been established by all parties in order to reduce stunting. The bespectacled man also explained the various work programs of the TPPS.
"TPPS Malang City by forming TPPS both at the sub-district and village levels. Then carrying out synergy and strengthening TPPS which was attended by Forkopimda, TP PKK, related regional apparatus, the ministry of religion, universities, and expert teams. In addition, mini workshops were also held in five sub-districts. Head of the Malang City Health Office, dr. Husnul Muarif said that the Malang City Stunting Discussion was carried out with the intention that the Malang City Government would jointly confirm, synchronize, and synergize the results of the situation analysis and the preparation of activity plans from the regional apparatus responsible for services at the city level together with sub-districts and villages in an effort to reduce stunting in priority locations in 2023.
dr. Husnul said that handling stunting involves many sectors, not only the Malang City Government but is holistic. dr. Husnul said that the 10 sub-districts in Malang City with the highest stunting rates based on the July 2022 Monthly Weighing Report are Tlogomas, Sumbersari, Bumiayu, Klojen, Tunggulwulung, Dinoyo, Kidul Dalem, Tunjungsekar, Blimbing, and Mergosono.
"It is hoped that the handling and reduction of stunting must be done together, it cannot only be the Malang City Government, let alone the Health Office. This 9,55 percent figure is not the last, our RPJMD until 2023 will be maximized. There has been a determination of priority locations for handling stunting according to the Mayor's Decree. In 2022 there will be 10 locations, later we will move together, all of them, not alone. Whatever is a priority there, we will work on it," explained Dr. Husnul.
