Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji virtually attended a national strategy discussion held by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) from the Ngalam Command Center (NCC) room, Malang City Hall, Thursday (8/9/2022).

The event, entitled preventing corruption in the Regional-Owned Enterprises (BUMD) environment by strengthening functions and supervision, was also attended by all regional heads, BUMN, and BUMD throughout Indonesia.
Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Committee, Alexander Marwata said that BUMD was established to drive the economy of a region. Therefore, he also reminded of the importance of good BUMD management.
"When a BUMD loses or is in negative equity sentiment, then it is a red flag. A sign that something is wrong (in its management)," he said.
In line with Alex's statement, Inspector General of the Ministry of Home Affairs Tomsi Thohir also emphasized that BUMD must not suffer losses. According to him, with the various advantages possessed by BUMD, it is only right to provide more income to the region.
But sometimes what happens is that BUMD often experiences losses. This is often due to poor management within the BUMD itself. Therefore, it is necessary to improve BUMD governance to prevent abuse of authority.
In terms of prevention, it is necessary to strengthen supervision starting from human resources of BUMD, supervisors, strengthening supervision of supervisory institutions, to strengthening management. One of the recommendations is to strengthen the Government Internal Supervisory Apparatus (APIP) and also encourage the strengthening of the Internal Supervisory Unit (SIP) in BUMD.
Also present at the event were the Regional Secretary of Malang City, Erik Setyo Santoso, ST., MT, Head of the Economic, Infrastructure and Natural Resources Section, Yayuk Hermiati, SH., MH and also the ranks of BUMD officials throughout Malang City. (ayu/ram)
